Ashley and James met and fell in love while traveling abroad. Shortly after, James left his native England and moved to Toronto to be together with Ashley. Their first challenge as a couple was to find a home in Toronto -- a daunting task for a young couple on a budget.
“We found the whole process of looking at not very nice places exhausting and so we wanted some expertise about where we should look,” - Ashley
Having little to no luck sifting through classifieds and looking at properties that just didn’t fit quite right, Ashley’s friend Alexis recommended they speak to Lisa and Lindsay, with whom she had purchased her first and 2 subsequent properties with.
“We knew that Lisa was a great real estate agent and had a lot of really prestigious clients and weren’t sure what to expect as we were just looking to rent at the time; but Lisa was so lovely … she put the same sort of effort that, I think, she would put into somebody buying property even though the returns for her weren't as great.”
After months spent viewing properties in different parts of Toronto, they were the most excited about Leslieville; a neighbourhood with boutique shops and restaurants as well as parks and green space.
Lisa showed them a condo loft in Leslieville that belonged to her friend that was about to be listed for rent. James and Ashley instantly fell in love with the unit for it’s high ceilings, light exposure, gorgeous brick walls and proximity to transportation and they knew they had found their perfect home.
“She is totally into what the client wants and needs rather than trying to kind of force an easy win,” James said, adding he never expected a realtor to be so accommodating and thoughtful to renters.
Ashley and James recently purchased their first house.
